HISTORY

History Snapshot

1947 Club first formed as Marshall Football Club.
         Home ground was at Reserve Road Grovedale.

1956 Changed its name to Marshall-Grovedale Football Club

1963 WINS its First Senior Premiership, defeating Leopold: 12.17.89 to 9.8.62

1968 Changed its name to Grovedale Football Club.

1972 WINS its first Reserves Premiership, defeating Lara: 13.13.91 to 11.9.75

1975 Club moved from Reserve Road to our present ground at Burdoo Reserve.

         WINS its Second Senior Premiership, defeating Modewarre: 14.8.92 to 12.15.87

1976 WINS Second Reserves Premiership, defeating Bannockburn: 10.7.67 to 5.12.42

1977 Seniors & Reserves, both win Championships, going through the year undefeated.

         Seniors defeated St Josephs: 19.19.133 to 17.13.115
         Reserves defeated Belmont: 20.12.132 to 6.7.43

1978 Club promoted to Division 1

1979 Geelong Football League Formed, in which we were one of the 12 original clubs.

1995 Jumper change from original design (Yellow with Black Sash) to Richmond FC design

         (Black with Yellow Sash).

         Original design still worn when there is a jumper clash and in the heritage round.

1997 WINS Reserves Premiership, defeating Nth Shore: 13.8.86 to 12.8.80

2000 Netball club formed and competed in the 2000 season.
         Club changed name to Grovedale Tigers Football Netball Club
         B Grade Netball made Grand Final, losing to Bell Park

2004 ‘A’ Grade Netball team make their first Grand final, losing to Sth Barwon 53 to 46

2005 ‘A’ Grade Netball team make 2nd successive Grand Final, losing to Sth Barwon 61 to 44

2013 Seniors made their first grand final, since 1977 and their first in the Geelong Football League,
         losing to Sth Barwon 13.16.94 to 12.2.74

2015 Hall of Fame created with 12 persons inducted and four of those inducted as a Legend.

2024 WINS first Senior Women's (Div 1) Premiership defeating Geelong Amateurs 2.8.20 to 1.6.12

Cooper Whyte drafted to Geelong FC in 2021

James Tsitas drafted to Gold Coast Suns in 2022 

Chloe Adams drafted to Essendon AFLW in 2023
